Nolan Ryan Topps #177 Rookie Stars Card 1968This is hall of famer  Nolan Ryan’s rookie card. It is card #177 in the 1968 topps series. Featured on this card is also Jerry Koosman. This card has a book value of around $300.00, but can sell for up to $1500.00. The condition of the card , of course being the key factor.

What can be said of Nolan Ryan?  How many MLB  records does he hold?  The list is astounding :

Most strikeouts, lifetime: 5714 – Most no-hitters, career: 7 – Most strikeouts, season: 383 (AL, 1973) – Most seasons, 200+ strikeouts: 15 -Most consecutive strikeouts, game: 8- Oldest to pitch a no-hitter: 44 (5/1/91) – Fastest pitch (as listed in the Guiness Book Of World Records): 101.9 MPH.

Overall in his career, Nolan Ryan had 324 Wins and a  3.19 ERA. And he was tough, there was no pitcher more intimidating than Nolan Ryan.

1968 topps johnny bench rookie cardHall of Famer Johnny Bench had a stellar career. He was a  fourteen time all star and a two time National League MVP winner. Bench was a key member of the ‘big red machine’ Cincinnati Reds which won four NL pennants and two World Championships in the 1970′s.

Considered by many as the greatest catcher of all time, Johnny Bench won ten gold glove awards and finished his career with a .991 fielding percentage. His pitchers praised his ability to call a baseball game.

Johnny Bench Career Stats : .267 BA  389 HR 1376 RBI. Bench was elected into the hall of fame in 1989 alongside Carl Yastrzemski.

The Johnny Bench Topps rookie stars card, which also features Ron Tompkins is valued anywhere between 85 to 100 dollars. A professionally graded card in mint condition can go for hundreds.

Jackie Robinson 1952 Topps Baseball Card #312This 1952 Jackie Robinson topps baseball card value can range between $500 (poor condition to $4,000 in good condition. It is highly unlikely any NM/M cards exist to this day. This Jackie Robinson topps baseball card is a true vintage classic. Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in major league baseball when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

He was a 6 time all star and the winner of the first ever MLB rookie of the year award in 1947. Jackie Robinson was also a tremendous advocate of equal rights for african americans.

Pete Rose Rookie CardThis Pete Rose rookie card from 1963 has a value of $800 dollars in NM/MT condition. Pete Rose rookie cards in fair to good condition value at around $200 to $350.

Nicknamed ‘Charlie Hustle’, Pete Rose had a tremendous career. He was part of the big red machine of the Cincinnati Reds of the 1970′s. He is the all time major league baseball hits leader with 4,256, 1975 World Series MVP and a 3 time NL batting champ.

Unfortunately for Pete , he started betting on sports. He also was accused of betting on baseball games, involving the Reds, for whom he managed. He is currently on the lifetime ineligibility list for the Hall of Fame, many Pete Rose fans hope this is overturned.
