The rookie autograph cards are horrible. There are 18 packs per box and 12 boxes per case… that means 1 in 7+ cases for the rookie autographs. That is crazy! Prospect autos seem about right. (Info from a post on Blowout Cards.) Prospect Ref – 1:4 Blue – 1:19 Purple – 1:24 Gold – 1:96 […]
The largest player draft in Blowout Cards history is complete. We broke 5 cases of 2010 Bowman Draft and 5 cases of 2011 Bowman Draft. Most of the autographed player slots were successful, but a few were shutout. Unfortunately two of the shutout players were the top 2 picks – Bubba Starling (pick #1) and […]
Group breaks are fun, really. As a participant (and I participate a lot), I enjoy the chance at a huge hit for a small price. Even when I get a bad slot in the random or shut out on a hit, I still enjoy the theater of it – the thrill of the break. As […]

This 1970 Thurman Munson Topps Rookie Stars Card is valued at around 30 to 40 dollars depending on condition.
Thurman Munson was the only New York Yankee to win both rookie of the year and MVP awards. Thurman became the first Yankee captain to be named since Lou Gehrig. No doubt he was the team leader, ( despite Reggie Jackson claiming to be the straw that stirs the drink ), leading the Yankees to three consecutive World Series, winning two of them.
Thurman often shied away from the media of the big apple, he just wanted to play ball and win. This caused some internal conflict as he and Reggie sometimes butted heads. Reggie was flashy, Thurman Munson was the complete opposite.
Munson let his play do the talking for him. He batted .308 and drove in 100 rbi’s in 1977, giving him three consecutive seasons batting .300 and driving in over 100 runs. He was the first yankee catcher to do this since Bill Dickey.
Thurman Munson Career Accomplishments -1970 Rookie of the Year, 1976 AL MVP, 7 time All Star, 1977,1978 world champion.
This is another really cool baseball card of Thurman Munson, the 1971 Topps All Star Rookie Card.
It’s value depending on condition, is 20 – 25 dollars. If professionally graded, both these cards can go for $100 or better.
Sadly, it will be hard for Thurman Munson to get into the hall of fame, because his career was cut tragically short. An amateur pilot, Thurman died on August 2, 1979 , while practicing landings and take offs, his plane crashed and burst into flames. He was only 32 years old. I was 10 when I heard of the news, and I cried, as did most Yankee fans that day.
No player in the 20th century has won more games in his final season in the majors than Sandy Koufax. Koufax wrapped up his big league career in 1966 while winning 27 times for the Dodgers. […]
I swiped this beauty off the 'Bay the other day to add it to my Seattle Pilots collection. Since there are relatively few Pilots cards to begin with, I like to think this collection would be a wholly different experience from my other specific collecti... […]
